Today it’s my great pleasure to stand here and give my speech on my opinion about The College Entrance Examination.

Nowadays, millions of Chinese students have to undergo a fierce competition of the entrance examination to College every year. After that, some of them can be admitted by a college while others can’t. Usually we take it for granted that those who don’t do well in school won’t have a bright future. However, in my opinion, it is just a bridge that leads to success, but not the only one. We must not dismiss them totally and also should be more active, more sunshine state of mind to face up to it

Without any question, college entrance examination is the highest authority exams of our country. We should all admit that it had created opportunities for most hard working students. It plays an important role in pushing forward of our country’s hi-tech economic development and its contribution should not be dismissed.

However, nowadays, the ways to study are even more varied and there is also going abroad to research and many other choices not only just the college entrance examination. Although in a certain way it can decide your future, you may not be sure to achieve everything if you have succeeded in it. It may not be the end of the world for you either, even if you had failed. Only when you have true talents, those golden pieces will always shine in front of your eyes!

Though this exam brings thousands of students horrible nightmares to go through, it is not just an exam but also a hardening process of one’s life. We would not just be able to get into a better university but also can accumulate a sum of precious wealth when enter into the society in later days in the process of preparing.

In general, to judge a student is qualified or not to enter a University, we must judge him or her through all the years of performing in all different aspects. Be more active, more sunshine is my attitude towards it.

the past two days are special for the 7.23 million examinees and their parents. it is the national college entrance examination (gaokao in chinese). based on the current education system in china, the result of the two day exam greatly impacts the future of any students in china. the score will decide whether you can receive college education. for most places in china, only half of the students are eligible for college education (only 3.40 million will be admitted to colleges in 2003) and the rest has to start work after high-school. in cities like beijing and shanghai, students are lucky enough to have a much higher ratio (more than 70%) to enter colleges.

tsinghua, peking university, fudan university and shanghai jiao tong university are among the first class in china. but only very few people can go there.

to enter a college or not, or to enter a good college or not directly impact the first offer they can get after graduate and impact their career. so it is the most critical time for students.

isaac recorded the "no honking during gaokao" sign. i saw the same sign near henan rd. and zhaojiabang rd.. not only honking is not allowed. all construction sites around schools were ordered to work in limited time in the recent 10 days. thousands of policemen are working around schools to make sure there is no noise or traffic jam during the two important days. taxi drivers even offer free ride to transport examinees and their family.
